'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Where in Los Angeles to Get the Hot GiftsWith ticket pre-sales being the highest of the year, the popular "Star Wars" standalone prequel, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" looks to already have an out-of-this-world opening. Entertainment Weekly notes that box office predictions for the first weekend in North America are at the $130 million mark. Whether this new installment matches the box office of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the demand for all things "Star Wars" is still very strong. So here is a listing of some of the must-have, hot "Rogue One" merchandise found at various local Los Angeles toy stores.
Remote Controlled Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT
Although I'm not sure anything will beat the coolness of last year's BB-8 App-Enabled Droid, Hasbro is launching the remote-controlled Rapid Fire Imperial AT-ACT. This vehicle serves to transport building materials or munitions, as well as for Rebel or Imperial action figures, like Jyn Erso, C2-B5, and an Imperial AT-ACT driver, which are included. The AT-ACT can also go into battle firing NERF darts (also included). This pricey item is retailing at just under $300. (A limited supply available before Christmas at Puzzle Zoo.)
The Black Series Imperial Stormtrooper Electronic Voice Changer Helmet
Who hasn't wanted to be one of the many faceless Stormtroopers? Well now here's your chance with the Black Series Imperial Stormtrooper Electronic Voice Changer Helmet (pictured above). This authentic looking Stormtrooper Helmet consists of a voice-changing module that will transform you into the most loyal of the Imperial Stormtroopers. (Both Melrose and Santa Monica locations of Puzzle Zoo admit that these masks fly off the shelves; call first.)
'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Heroes and Villains Glasses
Are you feeling a little thirsty over the holidays? Then this nifty set of "Rogue One" Heroes and Villains glasses by Vandor is for you. For the Heroes, we have Jyn Erso and K-2SO, and the Villains offer up Darth Vader and a Death Trooper. Cheers! (Available at GameStop.)
'Rogue One' Lego TIE Striker and Krennic's Imperial Shuttle
Lego has always had a terrific tie in with "Star Wars" so it's no surprise to find that the company has created some very cool Lego models for the upcoming "Rogue One." Those to watch for are the TIE Striker, the fast and sleek imperial vehicle with 543 pieces and four mini-figures – a Rebel Trooper, a TIE Pilot, an Imperial Stormtrooper and an Imperial Ground Crew. Also available is the impressive 863-piece, black Krennic's Imperial Shuttle. This set comes with eight mini-figures – Director Krennic, two Imperial Death Troopers, Pao, Bodi Rook and K-2SO. TIE Striker retails around $70 and Krennic's Imperial Shuttle around $90. (Available at Kip's Toyland in the Original Farmers' Market.)
'Rogue One' Action Figures
Last year's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" overlooked the potential popularity of the female hero, Rey. This year, that's not happening. Jyn Erso is front and center of all the "Rogue One" toys. Toymakers Hasbro, Lego and Funko are creating the diverse set of action figures from the film. We're especially fond of Funko's Pop! "Star Wars: Rogue One" vinyl action figures available at JennyBec's toystore.
