Dog-Friendly Activities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Pittsburgh is a very pet friendly city and a great place to own a dog. There are so many great advocates and pet friendly organizations in and around Pittsburgh that provide year-round social and pet friendly events for owners to attend with their dogs. The Allegheny Parks Department manages numerous Off Leash Dog Areas that are very accessible, safe and clean. Check out some of these dog friendly venues in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

North Park Dog Park
The North Park Dog Park is managed by the Allegheny County Parks Department and is located on Pearce Mill Rd, McCandless, PA. The park provides plenty of space to let your dog run freely without a leash. The park is fenced in and drinking water is provided onsite. There are benches within the running area for owners to rest, socialize and pickup bags are provided. The dog area actually rotates between two different areas in the park, one is an area on Pearce Mill Road and the other is a run area at Pearce Mill Road and Walter Road. Animal Friends
Animal Friends is a non-profit companion animal resource center with the tagline "thinking outside the cage." The Caryl Gates Gluck Resource Center is located on Camp Horne Road in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. The resource center houses dogs that can be visited daily and are all up for adoption. The property is also home to a wooded dog-walking trail and other outdoor pet activities.

Woody's Do-it-Yourself Dog Wash & Boutique
After a day running around at South Park's Dog Park which is only 1/4 miles away, owners can take their dog to Woody's Do-it-Yourself Dog Wash & Boutique for special clean-up and a treat.
